  • General Information About Black and White Canvas Prints

Our factory in London prints black and white canvases, custom made for you. Using sublimation dying we create stunning reproductions of your photos as black and white canvas prints. This technique provides incredible contrast and an even, continuous tone. Expect sharp detail and a contemporary matte finish, with a fine grain texture on the canvas.

Every print is hand-stretched on a custom-built wooden frame to get a perfectly tensioned canvas. We build our frames onsite in the UK, using only sustainably sourced wood which won’t warp or crack over time. We’re so confident in the quality and longevity of our canvases, that we offer a lifetime guarantee with every purchase – to give you peace of mind for years to come.

Easily design your black and white canvas prints using our online design tool. Our digital studio is simple to use, and if your photo is in colour, you can use the effects tool to convert it to black and white.

    • Unbeatable Range of Sizes

Make a statement with a large scale black and white canvas print up to 150 cm x 200 cm, or opt for a smaller choice, down to 30 cm x 30 cm. Each canvas up to 150 cm x 150 cm is available with two depth options. Choose a 2.5 cm thickness for a lighter weight canvas or 4.5 cm for a sturdier frame for your black and white photo canvas. Large scale frames are only available with a depth of 4.5 cm for extra support.

    • High Quality Woven Canvas

Poly-canvas remains strong over time and produces a vibrant and sharp image, which is why we choose it for our canvas prints, black and white or colour. The heavy, woven canvas has a slight grain texture for a gallery-finish.

    • Hand Built Frames

We custom make every wooden stretcher frame for your canvas print. Sourcing the best FSC certified pinewood, the frames are all created on site and stretched by hand to create a well-tensioned canvas. Our pinewood is laminated which prevents the frames from splitting or cracking, while the lack of knots means it won’t warp over time.

    • Superior Printing Method

Our professional quality sublimation printing method leaves your black and white canvas print scratch-proof, durable, and with incredibly sharp and even images. Just like our colour prints, our black and white prints display a consistent tone and precise details. This printing process locks the inks into the fibres of the canvas fabric using heat and pressure, ensuring they won’t budge over time.

We only use solvent-free and environmentally friendly inks to create the highest quality canvas prints possible, whilst remaining eco-friendly. Our processes and materials aim to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible.

Your black & white canvas print will have a soft and sleek matt finish, with no shiny layers or coatings to detract from your image. To preserve your new print, keep it out of direct sunlight to protect the ink.

    • Wrap Options

To guarantee your black and white canvas prints are created to the highest possible standard, it’s imperative to select a wrap option that will display your work effectively. Choose your wrap option when you click “Start Design”. We offer a variety of wrap choices for your print; a gallery wrap where your photo continues over the edges of the canvas, a mirror wrap where your image is reflected on the sides of the canvas, a coloured wrap for simple coloured edges, or no wrap. Explore our design tips below to choose the correct wrap for your photo, ensuring that no important details are lost.

    • Ready To Hang

Hang your new black and white canvas pictures with ease, with our no-fuss hanging kit which comes free with every purchase. Attach the picture hook to the back of your new canvas, and simply hang wherever you choose. Wall plugs and screws are included.

  • Design Tips
    • Wrap Choice

Black and white canvases have a striking effect, which can be enhanced with your choice of image wrap. For a gallery display, opt for our gallery wrap choice which extends your photo along the canvas edges. Don’t forget to keep details such as people’s heads or important elements away from the canvas edge when choosing this option, or with the mirror wrap. If you’d like to bring a pop of colour to your monochrome design, choose the colour wrap option and simply place your image on the front of the template.

Please note that if your photo contains a large area of white, the stretcher bars may be slightly visible through the canvas fabric of your black & white canvas prints.

    • Bleed Area

The bleed area is the area surrounding the main focal point in your photograph, that allows some leeway for printing. The image inside the bleed area may be shown on the final print, but it may also be cut off so avoid placing any important elements in this area.

    • Design Ideas

Easily convert your photos to black and white using our online system, to give any photograph a modern style. Turn a family photo into a professional-look photoshoot to display in your home, or give a pet portrait a contemporary edge in a sleek black and white design. Wedding shots look striking in monochrome, with a demure white wedding dress popping against a darker background.

    • Hanging Ideas

Your contemporary black and white canvases look even more striking against a solid coloured wall in your home, which brings the monochrome design to life and makes a statement in any room. Alternatively, black and white canvas prints or in colour can bring a minimalist room to life by drawing the eye to a focal point.

    • Montage Options

If you can’t choose which images you want to print, why not get creative with our montage option? Create a beautiful collage adorned with a range of your favourite photographs, displayed in quirky layouts or with fun borders. Our ‘scattered’ option makes a wonderful gift, with your photos displayed scattered over unfocussed background imagery of one of your photos.
